CSStudios
My work is done in a variety of medias, primarily acrylic paint, depending on the color or desired look, and is finished with acrylic and pencil details. All work is satin finished with glossy eyes and nostrils (but other finishes can be requested). I prefer pre-prepped bodies, however I may be willing to prep horses for the additional fees listed.
I am happy to work on both resins and plastics, however, due to issues in the model horse world with chemicals in certain plastics causing customs to turn sticky, all plastic customs are done at your own risk. I use the same quality paints and sealers on all painted pieces, but I cannot vouch for the plastic ingredients in mass produced horses, or the effect that these chemicals/ingredients will have on the paint and sealer. My work has brought home numerous NAN cards and live show placings, as well as consistently winning division and overall champion rosettes. I hope you find the information you need regarding placing a custom order here, and you can always feel free to contact me if you have questions or would like to place a custom order at calico21alpha@yahoo.com |
Payment & Policies
For payment I accept paypal, to calico21alpha@yahoo.com, money orders, or checks (held to clear). I require a $50 deposit for classic and smaller pieces and $100 for traditionals at the time the body is sent, and the rest can be paid anytime before the finished model is shipped. I must receive full payment before I will ship a model. If you have not paid the balance due on a horse (and we have not discussed additional arrangements) within 100 days after the completion of a model, I reserve the right to sell the finished model, retain the fee owed and send a check for the remainder of the funds to your last known address. If the check I send remains uncleared for an additional 180 days, you waive any rights to these remaining funds. If at any time during the commission period I can no longer make contact with you, you waive all rights to the model after 1 year from the time of the last contact, even if there is no balance due. Additionally if this happens, I reserve the right to refuse future commission bookings from you.
If you book a specific month, I must have the model and down payment by the first week of that month or I will not hold the spot and you will loose rights to the spot booked. If you book a spot, but then at the time of the commission you cannot be contacted, I reserve the right to refuse future commission bookings from you. I may not finish a horse in the month you book them (depending on the horse), but they will be started that month. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about my commission policy. I look forward to continuing to work with all of you in the future. |

Non-Paintwork Services
Prepping
I only offer prep work in conjunction with a painting commission; I will not prep a horse that I am not also painting.
A prep job includes sanding of all seams, logo removal, ear and hoof carving when necessary, filling of any pinholes or nicks, and primering. Small repair needs such as a clean break or large chip can also be fixed for an additional fee depending on the extent of the repair. My prep work prices are: Traditional $90-110 Classic $65-80 Stablemate $35-60 For rough cast horses additional fees will apply. I reserve the right to refuse to prep certain extremely rough molds. |
Re-sculpting
I sometimes offer limited re-sculpting in conjunction with a paint job. I specialize mainly in manes/tails and will also make small tweaks such as twitched ears, gender modification, or slight leg re-positioning.
I do not offer major muscle re-sculpting and will not make changes that alter the neck, shoulders, or hindquarters. Currently I do not have set rates for sculpting work, but feel free to inquire if you have a project in mind. Horses that I have re-sculpted will show the caption "Re-sculpting by CSStudios" on their main picture in my gallery. |
