Sewing

This is my primary other artistic hobby aside from model horses. My Mom taught me to sew and most of these project we completed together. I enjoy the designing side but I usually need her help to brainstorm and bring the project to completion. I use patterns as guidelines but most of the pieces here are drastically altered from the original pattern to fit with my design ideas.
In addition, nearly all my creations are decidedly green (not in color of course). Most of the fabric I use is recycled from old clothes and remade into current pieces. I am always on the look-out at thrift shops or auctions to find fabrics or outdated clothing that can be given new life. It's my own personal form of recycling.

Multi-color suede skirt with contrasting color kick-pleat in back. I actually made this out of several neon-colored suede pants I found at a thrift store some time back. They were very ugly pants, but together made a nice skirt.

Jacket and full skirt with contrasting lining. Jacket from vintage Butterick pattern 4344

I found this denim skit but it was all the way to my ankles and had a very outdated 70s vibe. I shortened the skirt and then use the extra denim for the shirt, which I did make. The shirt is a pale yellow eyelet lace based on a vintage simplicity patten.

Suede yoke on a wool tweed skirt. My design

This was actually made out of an old wedding? dress and a wool skirt. I took both apart and used the fabric to create this. This is my design and a collaborative effort to bring to life.
My modern interpretation of a poodle skirt. This one was all my sewing as well. (Thanks to Gaston for posing with me for this photo). Based off Vogue pattern 8176

Black leather jacket with shearling trim. I based this jacket off of Butterick 4344 but made quite a few design modifications. Sliver frog closures from "patternsoftime" at etsy.com

Dress comprised of two shades of grey wool with hand sewn beading work on top.

Bodice of Dupioni Silk (taken in part from an old black dress and re-made) with a cotton blend skirt. My design, keeping things simple.

Basic shift dress that I actually made out of my college dorm room curtains. Not quite as dramatic as Sound of Music or Gone with the Wind, but is it further proof that curtains are clothes just waiting to be made.

Wool jacket with dark brown stretch inserts. Based off of McCall's Pattern M5659. Just wish it was cold enough here to wear it a bit more often.

This is a denim jacket that I had purchased a while back and I added the cowhide yoke for a fun twist on the traditional jean jacket.
